CBN BUDS

CBN Buds

There is a lot of talk about CBD, and studies have been focusing on the cannabinoid for a long time. CBN, however, is less known in research, even though it is one of the most important cannabinoids. Unlike CBD, it is not or only barely present in young plants, as it is a breakdown product of THC. While CBN shares some similarities with CBD, there are also differences. Learn here about the properties of the cannabinoid and its interaction with your endocannabinoid system.

CBN flowers – the “unknown” cannabinoid!

There is a lot of talk about CBD and studies have been dealing with the cannabinoid for a long time. Less known in research is CBN, although it is one of the most important cannabinoids. Unlike CBD, it is not or only slightly present in young plants, because it is a degradation product of THC. Although CBN has some similarities with CBD, there are also differences. Find out more about the properties of the cannabinoid and how it interacts with your endocannabinoid system here.

What is cannabinol?

Cannabinol is one of the more than 100 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. It is said to contribute primarily to mental relaxation, but researchers have not yet made full progress in deciphering its effectiveness.

Technically, CBN is an oxidation product and is produced by heat and light in the plants. The precursor of CBN is THC, a banned substance that is not officially available on the market. Especially mature cannabis flowers that have been exposed to sun and high temperatures produce large amounts of CBN.

What are the properties of CBN and how does it work?

Cannabidiol is without question the most commonly used cannabinoid, about whose effects much is known. CBN is the unknown little brother, but its effects are also convincing at first sight. Similar to cannabis itself, CBN acts mainly via the receptors of the endocannabinoid system and here particularly strongly on the CB2 receptor. The effect is described by users as relaxing, calming and slightly depressing.

Although CBN comes from the cannabis plant and is considered a breakdown product of THC, it does not make you high! This is why CBN flowers have been available completely legally to date. Research has been looking into the effects of cannabinoids for several years now. CBN flowers are one of the youngest productions of the manufacturers, as the cannabinoid was only discovered a few years ago. So far, it has been attributed with the following properties, among others:

  • CBN is said to be able to stimulate the appetite
  • CBN flowers are said to have a neuroprotective effect
  • Due to its properties, CBN is said to be able to regulate blood pressure.
  • Cannabinol is said to have an influence on acute and chronic inflammation in the body.
  • Cannabinoids such as CBN appear to have antibiotic effects.

What is CBN used for?

Cannabinol is a real underdog compared to cannabidiol. So far, CBN has primarily been used for mental calming. Through its effect on the endocannabinoid system, the central nervous system can be influenced. The difference between CBD and CBN is that the latter primarily interacts with the receptors, while CBD directly targets the endocannabinoid system.

Can CBD and CBN be used together?

The effects of CBD are described as consistently positive. Initial studies suggest that there is more behind CBD products than just hype. All over the world, the hemp plant is getting a lot of attention, in some countries even THC products are completely legal. Interactions between individual cannabinoids do not exist in the classical form. However, it is suspected that cannabinoids such as CBN and CBG can influence and reduce the effectiveness of THC.

There is nothing against the combination of CBN products and CBD products. Many varieties of modern CBD oils also contain cannabinol. The interaction of several cannabinoids with terpenes from hemp flowers can trigger the entourage effect. Therefore, there are several variations of CBD oils, most of which are full-spectrum oils with CBN already present.

Is cannabinol legal?

Cannabinol does not make you high, has no addictive potential and does not alter the ability to concentrate. Consequently, CBN is officially legal. The same regulations apply as for CBD. A CBN product may have a maximum THC content of 0.2% and must be produced from seeds of the EU catalogue of varieties. As classical cannabis will also be approved in Germany (and many EU countries) in a few years, the THC limit for cannabinol flowers could fall in the future. Then it would only be relevant that the cannabis plant was grown from officially approved seeds. Since there are numerous variants here, there are no discernible restrictions for users.

Does CBN get you high?

CBN flowers do not cause intoxication, the cannabinoid is merely a breakdown product of THC. Cannabinol occurs when the plant is already well matured. THC breaks down and is converted into CBN. The more mature the plant, the higher the amount of CBN present. When using cannabinol, keep in mind that it may not make you high, but it can make you tired. If you are using a CBN item for the first time, you should not have any errands immediately afterwards.

In general, when starting to use CBN, it is advisable to take your time. Give your body the time it needs to get used to the new product. CBN is a variation of the cannabis plant that works similarly, but not identically, to CBD. You may have been a CBD user for a long time, but be completely new to CBN. First find out what effects CBN has on you and your body.

Conclusion: Only buy CBN from a specialist shop.

CBN flowers are not a substitute for CBD, cannabidiol has become far too popular for that. However, it is an exciting addition, because especially the symbiosis of CBN and CBD can result in the entourage effect.
